JSON to XML Converter

This JSON to XML converter transforms any JSON payload into a well-formed XML document. It automatically picks the root element from a single top-level JSON key, or wraps the output in a generic root when one is not obvious, and turns array items into repeated sibling elements. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, with no upload or server processing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert JSON to XML?

Paste your JSON into the left panel and the equivalent XML appears on the right immediately, ready to copy or download.

How is the XML root element chosen?

If your JSON has exactly one top-level key, that key becomes the root element — for example, {"book": {...}} becomes <book>...</book>. If the JSON has multiple top-level keys, is an array, or is a primitive value, a generic <root> wrapper is added instead, because XML documents require exactly one root element, and you can rename that root at any time.

How are JSON arrays represented in XML?

Each element of a JSON array becomes a repeated sibling element with the same tag name, nested inside its parent element.

Does the converter handle nested objects?

Yes. Nested JSON objects become nested XML elements, preserving the same hierarchy as the source JSON.

Is any of my JSON data sent to a server during conversion?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, so your JSON is never uploaded or stored remotely.
